Chance Oil and Gas

Community Commitment

Chance plans to operate on a small scale over a longer period in order to create conditions that allow Yukon-based businesses and citizens, including those from First Nations communities, to build capacity to participate in the proposed activities.

This approach will also minimize the environmental impact of the operations.

Chance is engaging with First Nations, including the Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation, the First Nation of Na-Cho Nyak Dun and the Gwitchin Tribal Council. The goal is to collaboratively, respectfully and transparently develop partnerships that will enable benefits from the employment and procurement opportunities that will arise from the proposed projects and guide practices that will protect the environment.

Chance’s commitment to sustainable development extends beyond the environmental footprint and includes training and economic opportunities for individuals and businesses in northern Yukon. Through training and hands-on experience for employees and contractors, the benefits of the operations are transferable to future jobs.

The company is committed to promoting equity and diversity among its staff and contractors. Of the company’s employees, 50% are women, and 50% come from local First Nations communities, including Vuntut Gwitchin citizens.
