Who We Are
Chance is a private, Canadian-controlled company that was incorporated in Yukon in 1994, originally under the name Northern Cross (Yukon) Limited. Since its incorporation, the company has undertaken flow testing, drilling, and seismic data acquisition programs to help evaluate the oil and natural gas resource opportunities in the Eagle Plain Sedimentary Basin. In 2017, the company changed its name to Chance when ownership was restored to 100% Canadian control.
The shareholders of the company are residents of Alberta, British Columbia and Yukon, and include Indigenous shareholders. The Board of Directors is made up of experienced individuals, including women, who are committed to responsible exploration and upholding the values of the company.
Chance has a demonstrated track record of hiring local Yukon companies and residents to provide goods and services for its projects, including Indigenous-owned and operated businesses.
The company is committed to promoting equity and diversity among its staff and contractors. Of the company’s employees, 50% are women and 50% come from local First Nations communities, including Vuntut Gwitchin citizens.
